Weekly Community Building Questions

$4.00

Community building isn't just for the first week of school. It isn't always cute, easy, or an instant solution. It's a daily, long-term commitment, but the results are always worth it!

With this activity, students will have weekly check-in questions that are silly and not subject-specific, serving as a way to connect with you and their peers, and build community year-round.

What's included:

  • 32 slides with questions in English.

Why I love this activity:

  • It's a conversation starter.

  • There's no Monday scaries walking into your classroom.

  • It lowers the anxiety before class and after the weekend.

  • Helps students transition back to school after the weekend.

  • It's a consistent community builder.

  • Students love seeing what everyone else wrote.

Audience:

Perfect for teachers of any subject.

How I use it:

I literally post the weekly question on a roll of paper on the door, and every Monday, as I greet students, I hand them markers and have them respond as they come in.

What I use:

  • Magnetic Curtain Rod from Amazon (sticks to the inside of my door)

  • Craft Paper Roll

  • Markers

  • Painter's Tape or magnets to hold the ends down

Other ways this activity can be used:

  • Another option to use weekly questions is to add them to a Google Form at the start or end of the period. Share responses with students!

  • You can also write the weekly question on your whiteboard or display it on the projector and have students use Expo markers to write down their responses on the board or on a Post-it and stick it on the board.
